Professor FCUM Maria Gabryś, DMus Hab.

Maria Gabryś was born in War­saw into a fam­i­ly of musi­cians. She began to play the piano ear­ly on, and com­plet­ed her edu­ca­tion as a pianist at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music under the super­vi­sion of Pro­fes­sor Tere­sa Man­aster­s­ka, and at the Lucerne Musikhochschule under the super­vi­sion of Pro­fes­sor Ivan Klán­sky, both with spe­cial dis­tinc­tion. She increased her knowl­edge of old key­board instru­ments and his­tor­i­cal per­for­mance prac­tices under the super­vi­sion of Pro­fes­sor Jes­per Chris­tensen at the Schola Can­to­rum Basilien­sis of the Basel Musikhochschule.

Maria Gabryś has attend­ed mas­ter class­es by Andrzej Jasińs­ki, Mur­ray Per­ahia, Andrei Gavrilov, Rudolf Buch­binder, Hiroko Naka­mu­ra and Kris­t­ian Bezuiden­hout. She has her­self been teach­ing at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in War­saw since 2005.

Her tal­ent was rec­og­nized with var­i­ous prizes even while still a stu­dent, includ­ing at the inter­na­tion­al Chopin com­pe­ti­tions in Antonin (Poland), Göt­tin­gen (Deutsch­land), and Marien­bad (Czech Repub­lic). She is 1st prize win­ner the Beethoven com­pe­ti­tion in Hradec (Czech Repub­lic, 1999) as well as the Edwin-Fis­ch­er com­pe­ti­tion in Lucerne (Switzer­land, 2007).

She has received stipends from the Inter­na­tion­al Chopin Soci­ety, the Pol­ish Children’s Found, the foun­da­tion “Crescen­dum est Polo­nia”, and the Pol­ish Min­istry of Cul­ture. In 2006 she was award­ed the Mozart Prize of the Lucerne Musikhochschule.

Maria Gabryś has per­formed con­certs in front of many dig­ni­taries, includ­ing the Japan­ese Impe­r­i­al Fam­i­ly. She has per­formed con­certs in Europe, South Korea, Japan, and the Unit­ed States.

Her pro­fes­sion­al activ­i­ties con­cen­trate on con­cert per­for­mance, cham­ber music and teach­ing. She has hold mas­ter class­es in Dae­jon and Pusan in South Korea and in Luzern, Switzer­land (Tal­en­woche). She took also part as a jury mem­ber in Inter­na­tion­al Chopin Com­pe­ti­tion in Marien­bad (Czech Repub­lic) and RAHN Wet­tbe­werb in Zurich.
