Department 1 — Composition, Conducting and Theory of Music

- conducting a previously prepared piece (name of the composer and title of the work to be sent together with the application form)

Department 6 — Sound Engineering
Major: SOUND ENGINEERING (intramural studies)
Candidates sitting the new school-leaving examination ( “nowa” matura) must have a school-leaving certificate in mathematics or physics (candidate’s choice). Advanced level for the above mentioned subjects is suggested

- detailed information about the rules of calculating the result are on the Department Website (in Polish).
Prior to the test candidates must submit the results of their audiometric test, conducted at the FCUM. The test is free.
Department 7 — Instrumental and Educational Studies in Białystok
Candidates for the specialties: Conducting Music Ensembles, Church Music, Music at School and Solo Singing must undergo a phoniatric examination at the FCUM Department of Instrumental and Educational Studies in Białystok during the knowledge and skills tests.

MA Studies
From the Academic Year 2010/2011 there is an option to widen one’s MA Studies with the Multimedia Specialty for students of the second degree studies of the following specialties at the FCUM:

Students will be qualified to participate in Inter-University Multimedia Program, which is a continuation of the project co-financed by the Operating Programme “Human Capital” as part of the European Social Fund for candidate for the following Majors: Vocal Studies, Composition, Theory of Music and Instrumental Studies, on the basis of their preliminary declarations, distributed among the candidates. In case of too many candidates the basis for accepting them for the project will be a test of logical thinking.
The date of the test of logical thinking is 4th July 2012.

- Presentation of the prepared 2.5-minute long movement composition to the selected music, in a free style or dance technique, performed personally
- Improvisation inspired by a musical piece or theme, selected at random by a candidate
- Answering two out of three drawn questions from the area of theory, history and knowledge about dance
Department 6 — Sound Engineering
Major: SOUND ENGINEERING (intramural studies)
Specialties: Film and TV Sound Engineering, Music Production
- an interview concerning: film sound engineering or music production, depending on the chosen speciality, during which the candidate presents the following completed tasks: films with sound prepared by the candidate or music recordings prepared by the candidate. Music recordings should be presented on a CD, in a format with no lossy data compression. Film works (at least two) should be presented as audio stereo or LCR files with synchronous video files in the Quicktime dvPAL format and as an open ProTOOLS stereo or LCR session; one of the presented works must include the sound layer based on postsynchrones: also dialogues and effects (e.g. it can be a 5-minute-long fragment of a feature film), the second work can be any film (especially a film study or an animation);
- knowledge and skills test based on the first degree (BA) studies curriculum for the Major: Sound Engineering (only for candidates who do not have a diploma obtained at this Major; positive result of the test will be the basis for admitting a candidate to the interview).
Candidates for the second degree studies in the specialties: Film and TV Sound Engineering and Music Production, can apply for widening their selected Major with multimedia subjects, in a form of an individual plan of studies (as specified in the FCUM riles of studies), as part of the project called the Inter-University Multimedia Program (MSM) run by the Department of Sound Engineering, which is a continuation of the project co-financed by the Operating Programme “Human Capital” as part of the European Social Fund.
Students will be qualified to participate in the MSM project on the basis of their preliminary declarations, distributed among the candidates. In case of too many candidates the basis for accepting them for the project will be a test of logical thinking.
Specialty: Sound Engineering in Multimedia
- an interview concerning sound engineering in audiovisual forms, during which a candidate presents sound to: 1 . an artistic audiovisual form (e.g. a cartoon, an experimental film, a film study, video-art – installation of architectonic space or other public space). The work should include creational sound elements; 2. fragment of a feature film with dialogues. Both works should be presented in the form of audio stereo or LCR files with synchronous video files in the Quicktime dvPAL format and as an open ProTOOLS stereo or LCR session;
- knowledge and skills test based on the BA studies curriculum for the Major: Sound Engineering (only for candidates who do not have a diploma obtained at this Major; positive result of the test will be the basis for admitting a candidate to the interview);
- predisposition test in logical thinking.
