General information and tests dates

BA stud­ies as well as MA stud­ies and PhD stud­ies at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music are run in an intra­mur­al or extra­mur­al form (depend­ing on the Depart­ment and the Spe­cial­ty).

Fresh­men enrol­ment for the aca­d­e­m­ic year 2014/2015 will cov­er intra­mur­al and extra­mur­al Lev­el 1 (BA) Stud­ies, intra­mur­al and extra­mur­al Lev­el 2 (MA) Stud­ies and Lev­el 3 Stud­ies (PhD).

Lev­el 1 grad­u­ates obtain the title of Bach­e­lor, which enti­tles them to con­tin­ue their edu­ca­tion at Lev­el 2 (MA) stud­ies.

Lev­el 2 grad­u­ates obtain the pro­fes­sion­al Master’s title, which enti­tles them to con­tin­ue their edu­ca­tion at Lev­el 3 (PhD) stud­ies.

The enrol­ment pro­ce­dure will be car­ried out by the Depart­ment Enrol­ment Com­mit­tees appoint­ed accord­ing to the High­er Edu­ca­tion Act of 27 July 2005, art. 169 par. 10 with fur­ther amend­ments.

Knowl­edge and skills tests not assessed by the sec­ondary school final exam­i­na­tion (matu­ra) are car­ried out on the basis of Art. 169 par. 4 of the Law on High­er Edu­ca­tion of 27 July 2005 with fur­ther amend­ments.

The enrol­ment pro­ce­dure is com­pet­i­tive and its results are pub­lic.

Can­di­dates for each depart­ment and spe­cial­ty will be accept­ed on the basis of their test out­comes (the high­est num­ber of points), with­in the lim­it for each depart­ment (spe­cial­ty).

Extra­mur­al stud­ies are payable. Fees shall be defined annu­al­ly by the FCUM Sen­ate. From the aca­d­e­m­ic year 2014/2015 payable MA Stud­ies: Major — Vocal Stud­ies, Spe­cial­ty: Solo Singing with Eng­lish as the lan­guage of tuition, will be run.

From the aca­d­e­m­ic year 2012/2013 payable MA Stud­ies: Major — Instru­men­tal Stud­ies, Spe­cial­ty: Piano Play­ing with Eng­lish as the lan­guage of tuition, have been run.

From the Aca­d­e­m­ic Year 2010/2011 there is an option to widen one’s MA Stud­ies (sec­ond degree stud­ies ) with mul­ti­me­dia sub­jects pack­age – for stu­dents of the fol­low­ing spe­cial­ties: Piano Play­ing, Accor­dion Play­ing, Gui­tar Play­ing, Harp Play­ing, Solo Singing, Bal­let Ped­a­gogy, Chore­og­ra­phy and The­o­ry of Dance, Music Pro­duc­tion, Film and TV Sound Engi­neer­ing (at the FCUM), and for stu­dents of the Fac­ul­ty of Media Arts (at the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts).

Stu­dents will be qual­i­fied to par­tic­i­pate in the project widen­ing their cho­sen Major in a form of an indi­vid­ual plan of stud­ies on the basis of their pre­lim­i­nary dec­la­ra­tions, and a test of log­i­cal think­ing. The project is run by the Depart­ment of Sound Engi­neer­ing and is a con­tin­u­a­tion of the project called the Inter-Uni­ver­si­ty Mul­ti­me­dia Pro­gram, co-financed by the Oper­at­ing Pro­gramme “Human Cap­i­tal” as part of the Euro­pean Social Fund.

From the Aca­d­e­m­ic Year 2012/2013 stu­dents of the sec­ond degree stud­ies major­ing in Com­po­si­tion and The­o­ry of Music can cov­er option­al sub­jects cho­sen as part of the project called the Inter-Uni­ver­si­ty Mul­ti­me­dia Pro­gram run by the Depart­ment of Sound Engi­neer­ing, which is a con­tin­u­a­tion of the project co-financed by the Oper­at­ing Pro­gramme “Human Cap­i­tal” as part of the Euro­pean Social Fund.
