Assistant Professor Miłosz Pękala, DMus

Miłosz Pękala comes from Rzeszów. He grad­u­at­ed from the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw, per­cus­sion class of Pro­fes­sor Sta­ni­sław Sko­czyń­ski (diplo­ma with hon­ours). He also stud­ied at The Roy­al Dan­ish Aca­demy of Music in Copen­hagen under G. Mortensen.

For many years he has par­tic­i­pat­ed in numer­ous pres­ti­gious con­certs, fes­ti­vals and diverse artis­tic projects, cov­er­ing both con­tem­po­rary, light and eth­nic music (as a soloist or cham­ber musi­cian). He usu­al­ly coop­er­ates with a quar­tet Kwa­dro­fo­nik, per­cus­sion duo Hob-beats Per­cus­sion Duo, orches­tra Sin­fo­nia Var­so­via, ensem­ble Mitch&Mitch, pro­duc­er and com­pos­er Andrze­j Smo­li­k,  and group Rit­mo­de­lia. On his score card he has per­for­mances with (among oth­ers): Euro­pean Per­cus­sion Ensam­ble (Fran­ce), Per­cus­sion Cla­vier de Lyon (Fran­ce), Per­ku­rama (Den­mark), orches­tra of the Nation­al Phil­har­mon­ic, Cham­ber Orches­tra Ama­deus, and War­saw Per­cus­sion Group. He has devel­oped his skills under such artists as: Andrzej Kruk, Mar­ta Kli­ma­sara, Kata­rzyna Myć­ka, Ste­ven Schick, Jean Geof­froy, Emma­nuel Sejo­urne, Nip­py Noya, or Ricar­do Flo­res. He spe­cial­izes in play­ing the vibra­phone, mul­ti-per­rcus­sion sets and Latin Amer­i­can instru­ments.

Miłosz Pękala has won awards at many com­pe­ti­tions both as a soloist and a mem­ber of cham­ber ensem­bles. In 2008 he was a final­ist of the pres­ti­gious Inter­na­tio­nal Per­cus­sion Duo Com­pe­ti­tion in Luxem­burg. In 2009 he won the 1st Award at the Inter­na­tio­nal Per­cus­sion Com­pe­ti­tion in Fer­mo (Italy) in the cat­e­go­ry of vibra­phonem and 2013, togeth­er with Mag­da­lena Kor­dy­la­siń­ska, he won the 3rd Award and Spe­cial Award at the Uni­ver­sal Marim­ba Com­pe­ti­tion in Bel­gium, in the cat­e­go­ry of marim­ba duos. The album enti­tled Fol­klove (Pol­skie Radio) fea­tur­ing Miło­sz Pękala was called the fest folk music CD of 2008.

Miłosz Pękala cur­rent­ly works as a Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in War­saw,  and he inces­sant­ly per­forms con­certs in a per­cus­sion duo called  Hob-beats Per­cus­sion Duo, quar­tet Kwa­dro­fo­nik, and par­tic­i­pates in many nation­al and inter­na­tion­al artis­tic projects.
