Professor Maciej Piotrowski

He began to per­form when still a stu­dent. He stud­ied the piano at the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­emy of Music in War­saw in Pro­fes­sor M. Trombini-Kazuro’s class and Pro­fes­sor B. Hesse-Bukowska’s class. He grad­u­ated with hon­ours in 1982.

He has per­formed in many cities in Poland and also in Bul­garia, Hun­gary, Czekia, Slo­va­kia, Lithua­nia, Ger­many, Aus­tria, France, Italy, Spain, Fin­land, Swe­den, Rus­sia, Japan, Mex­ico, USA, Canada and Aus­tralia. He has par­tic­i­pated in many music fes­ti­vals includ­ing Duszniki Zdrój, Słupsk, Antonin, Busko-Zdrój, Gam­ing (Aus­tria) and Toledo (Spain). He has played many times with Bar­bara Hesse-Bukowska, pre­sent­ing com­po­si­tions for two pianos and orches­tra; he has accom­pa­nied the Amer­i­can mezzo-soprano Kim­bal Wheeler; he has also played with the Varso­via Quar­tet and NIH Cham­ber Play­ers, flautists Julius Baker, Thomas Pre­vost and Grze­gorz Cimoszko and oboist Stanisław Malikowski.

For sev­eral years now Maciej Piotrowski has been play­ing in duet with Woj­ciech Walasek, the excel­lent cel­list (in Poland, Aus­tria, Spain, Ger­many, Bul­garia, France and other countries).

He has recorded works by Bach, Mozart, Chopin, Szy­manowski, Rach­mani­noff, Prokofiev and Ravel for Pol­ish Radio and Tele­vi­sion. He has lec­tured at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­sity of Music in War­saw since 1985 (piano and piano cham­ber music) and also taught mas­ter courses in Japan, Brazil, Aus­tralia and USA. Maciej Piotrowski has judged piano com­pe­ti­tions in Poland, Ger­many, Spain, Thai­land, France and Canada.
