Professor Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka

She grad­u­ated from the Fry­deryk Chopin Higher Col­lege of Music in War­saw. She stud­ied the piano with J. Wobożil, I. Kir­jacka and J. Lefeld. Her main focus of inter­est is cham­ber music which she stud­ied in Z. Vogt­man and K. Wiłkomirski’s classes. As a mem­ber of duets and “Trio Warsza­wskie” (The War­saw Trio) she won sev­eral national and inter­na­tional com­pe­ti­tions (Gdańsk, Bor­deaux, Belgrade).

Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka has been a very active per­former and has played with such dis­tin­guished artists as Roman Jabłoński, Krzysztof Jakow­icz, Andrzej Hiol­ski, Pierre Amoyal, Anna Karasińska and Olga Pasiecznik. She takes part in recitals organ­ised by all the Pol­ish Phil­har­mon­ics and other musi­cal insti­tu­tions. She has played in nearly every coun­try in Europe and also in the USA, Canada, Mex­ico and Cuba. She has taken part in numer­ous, pres­ti­gious music fes­ti­vals (e.g., Flan­ders Fes­ti­val, “Lep­orello” in Szleswig-Holstein, “Cer­van­tino” in Mex­ico, Łańcut Fes­ti­val, “War­saw Autumn”, the Chopin Fes­ti­vals in Duszniki). She has given first per­for­mances of the works of con­tem­po­rary Pol­ish com­posers: Witold Lutosławski, Marta Ptaszyńska, Piotr Mossa.

Record­ing occu­pies a spe­cial place in Krystyna Borucińska’s artis­tic work. She has recorded sev­eral dozens of hours for Pol­ish Radio archives. She has also fre­quently recorded for for­eign broad­cast­ing sta­tions, mainly BBC (over a dozen record­ing ses­sions in Lon­don, Man­ches­ter, Bris­tol and Glasgow).

She has also recorded a num­ber of records includ­ing mono­graphic record­ings of Karol Szymanowski’s music with the vio­lin­ist Krzysztof Jakowicz.

A book edited by Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka Play­ing a vista as an Essen­tial Ele­ment of Music Edu­ca­tion (in Pol­ish), was pub­lished in 2006.

Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka also teaches. She is a pro­fes­sor at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­sity of Music in War­saw where she teaches a piano cham­ber music class.
