Professor Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka, DMus Hab.

She grad­u­at­ed from the Fry­deryk Chopin High­er Col­lege of Music in War­saw. She stud­ied the piano with J. Wobożil, I. Kir­jac­ka and J. Lefeld. Her main focus of inter­est is cham­ber music which she stud­ied in Z. Vogt­man and K. Wiłkomirski’s class­es. As a mem­ber of duets and “Trio Warsza­wskie” (The War­saw Trio) she won sev­er­al nation­al and inter­na­tion­al com­pe­ti­tions (Gdańsk, Bor­deaux, Bel­grade).

Krysty­na Boru­cińs­ka-Żar­nec­ka has been a very active per­former and has played with such dis­tin­guished artists as Roman Jabłońs­ki, Krzysztof Jakow­icz, Andrzej Hiol­s­ki, Pierre Amoy­al, Anna Karasińs­ka and Olga Pasiecznik. She takes part in recitals organ­ised by all the Pol­ish Phil­har­mon­ics and oth­er musi­cal insti­tu­tions. She has played in near­ly every coun­try in Europe and also in the USA, Cana­da, Mex­i­co and Cuba. She has tak­en part in numer­ous, pres­ti­gious music fes­ti­vals (e.g., Flan­ders Fes­ti­val, “Lep­orel­lo” in Szleswig-Hol­stein, “Cer­van­ti­no” in Mex­i­co, Łań­cut Fes­ti­val, “War­saw Autumn”, the Chopin Fes­ti­vals in Duszni­ki). She has giv­en first per­for­mances of the works of con­tem­po­rary Pol­ish com­posers: Witold Lutosławs­ki, Mar­ta Ptaszyńs­ka, Piotr Mossa.

Record­ing occu­pies a spe­cial place in Krysty­na Borucińska’s artis­tic work. She has record­ed sev­er­al dozens of hours for Pol­ish Radio archives. She has also fre­quent­ly record­ed for for­eign broad­cast­ing sta­tions, main­ly BBC (over a dozen record­ing ses­sions in Lon­don, Man­ches­ter, Bris­tol and Glas­gow).

She has also record­ed a num­ber of records includ­ing mono­graph­ic record­ings of Karol Szymanowski’s music with the vio­lin­ist Krzysztof Jakow­icz.

A book edit­ed by Krysty­na Boru­cińs­ka-Żar­nec­ka Play­ing a vista as an Essen­tial Ele­ment of Music Edu­ca­tion (in Pol­ish), was pub­lished in 2006.

Krysty­na Boru­cińs­ka-Żar­nec­ka also teach­es. She is a pro­fes­sor at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in War­saw where she teach­es a piano cham­ber music class.
