Assistant Professor Ewa Skardowska, DMus Hab.

Ewa Skar­dows­ka holds a post-doc­tor­al degree award­ed to her by the FCUM, she is a pianist, she com­plet­ed grad­u­ate and post-grad­u­ate stud­ies in piano play­ing under Bro­nisława Kawal­la and Jan Eki­er. She also stud­ied at the Peabody Con­ser­va­to­ry of Music in Bal­ti­more, USA, in the class of Ellen Mack.

Since grad­u­a­tion, she has had a keen inter­est in piano cham­ber music; she has per­formed with numer­ous instru­men­tal­ists from Poland and abroad. In 2004, she found­ed the Varso­via Piano Trio togeth­er with Adam Zarzy­c­ki (vio­lin) and Piotr Hausen­plas (cel­lo) with which she has per­formed in Poland and in many oth­er coun­tries, e.g. Turkey, Czech Repub­lic, Egypt, Great Britain, Roma­nia, Moldo­va, Fin­land, Bul­gar­ia, Chi­na, Ire­land, or Geor­gia. The trio has record­ed two albums with Pol­ish music – for DUX/2006 and for Orfeus Music/2013.

She sat on the jury of the 5th Inter­na­tion­al Piano Com­pe­ti­tion (2013). She is also inter­est­ed in pro­mot­ing solo and cham­ber works by Pol­ish com­posers con­nect­ed with the FCUM and, due to her ties with the Kurylewicz Artis­tic Cel­lar, pieces by Andrzej Kurylewicz.

Ewa Skar­dows­ka is con­nect­ed with the FCUM Depart­ment of Instru­men­tal Stud­ies. She is also an author of pop­u­lar-sci­ence arti­cles on music (“Two­ja Muza” mag­a­zine), a dozen of aca­d­e­m­ic arti­cles, dis­ser­ta­tion “On the role of a pianist in the teach­ing of instru­men­tal­ists”, and the book enti­tled “Rela­tion­ships in a piano trio” pub­lished by the FCUM in 2013. She is part of the edi­to­r­i­al team of a mul­ti-author pub­li­ca­tion cur­rent­ly pre­pared at the FCUM.
