Assistant Professor Dariusz Zimnicki, DMus Hab.

He is a grad­u­ate of the Vil­nius Con­ser­va­to­ry (1997) and the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw, spe­cial­ty: Choir Con­duct­ing (2002, class of Pro­fes­sor Ryszard Zimak). He obtained a doc­tor­al title in music arts in 2009.

In the peri­od of 2002–2004 he was con­nect­ed (as a con­duc­tor) with the War­saw Cham­ber Opera. Cur­rent­ly he works at his par­ent uni­ver­si­ty as Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor at the Chair of Choir Con­duct­ing and as a con­duc­tor of the FCUM Mixed Choir and the Department’s vocal ensem­ble.

Since 2004 he has con­duct­ed the Aca­d­e­m­ic Choir of the War­saw Tech­ni­cal Uni­ver­si­ty and the War­saw Met­ro­pol­i­tan Church Choir. He gives a lot of con­certs with both ensem­bles, prepar­ing very diverse a capel­la pro­grammes, as well as vocal-and-instru­men­tal pieces. He can be dis­tin­guished by numer­ous ini­tia­tives in per­form­ing for­got­ten and new­ly dis­cov­ered choir works. He suc­cess­ful­ly per­forms at fes­ti­vals and com­pe­ti­tions in Poland and abroad (over 20 awards). He is a co-founder (2011) and con­duc­tor of the Tibi Dom­mine choir at the Sain­test Sav­iour parish in War­saw.

He won the schol­ar­ship of the Min­is­ter of Cul­ture for out­stand­ing edu­ca­tion results. He was a lau­re­ate of the 3rd award and indi­vid­ual award for his work on the inter­pre­ta­tion of Karol Szymanowski’s piece at the All-Poland com­pe­ti­tion for choir con­duc­tors in Poz­nań in 2002.

He is a region­al coor­di­na­tor of the all-Poland pro­gramme of devel­op­ment of school choirs called The Singing Poland. He is active as an orga­niz­er and co-orga­niz­er of com­pe­ti­tions, fes­ti­vals and choir reviews.

He also is a juror, lec­tur­er and expert in under­tak­ings on region­al, nation­al and inter­na­tion­al lev­els.
