Bar­bara Kamińska, PhD Hab., Pro­fes­sor, The Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­sity of Music (FCUM), War­saw, Head of the Chair of Psy­chol­ogy of Music.

Bar­bara Kamińska grad­u­ated with hon­ours from the State Higher School of Music (now The Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­sity of Music) where she stud­ied at the Depart­ment of Music Edu­ca­tion (1972); PhD in music the­ory (AMFC 1985); post-graduate degree (habil­i­ta­tion) in edu­ca­tion and music edu­ca­tion (Maria Curie-Skłodowska Uni­ver­sity 1999). She also stud­ied at the Kodály Insti­tute in Kecskemét, Hun­gary, and com­pleted an intern­ship in Eng­land under the super­vi­sion of Pro­fes­sor John A. Slo­boda (1992).

She has been employed as a research worker at the Insti­tute of Music Edu­ca­tion (since 1974) and at the Chair of Psy­chol­ogy of Music since 1992. She has been head of this Chair since 2000. In 2001–2006 she was head of the Music Psy­chol­ogy Post­grad­u­ate Stud­ies at the AMFC. Author of books and book chap­ters and sev­eral dozen arti­cles and con­fer­ence papers pre­sented at national and inter­na­tional con­fer­ences (e.g., in Bloom­ing­ton, Assisi, Kecskemét, Ham­burg, Read­ing, Vienna, Bologna).

Organ­iser of five Polish-Hungarian Kodály seminars.

Prop­a­ga­tor of early and uni­ver­sal music education.

Mem­ber of IKSISME.

Hobby: all forms of close con­tact with nature.

  2. Musi­cal psy­cho­met­rics (the mea­sure­ment and assess­ment of musi­cal apti­tude, achieve­ment, atti­tudes and preferences)
