Assistant Professor Artur Stefanowicz, DMus Hab.

Artur Ste­fanow­icz grad­u­at­ed from the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw, Depart­ment of Vocal Stud­ies (1991), where he stud­ied under Pro­fes­sor Jerzy Artysz. He con­tin­ued his singing edu­ca­tion with Paul Ess­wood and Pro­fes­sor Jad­wiga Rap­pé.

He won the 1st award named after Venanzio Rauzzi­ni at the Inter­na­tion­al Mozart Vocal Com­pe­ti­tion in Vien­na (1990) and the 2nd award at the Inter­na­tion­al Vocal Com­pe­ti­tion in ’s-Her­to­gen­bosch (1991).

Since 1991 he has per­formed with many famous orches­tras and ensem­bles, e.g.: Berlin­er Sym­phoniker, Clemen­cic Con­sort, Orches­tra of the Age of Enlight­en­ment, Com­bat­ti­men­to Con­sort Ams­ter­dam, Il Fon­da­men­to, Col­legium Instru­men­tale Bru­gense, Les Arts Floris­sants, Akademie für Alte Musik, Con­cer­to Ital­iano, he has worked with such con­duc­tors as: Karol Teutsch, Leopold Hager, Philippe Entremont, Zdenek Kosler, Paul Dom­brecht, Patrick Peire, William Christie, Sir Charles Mack­er­ras, Har­ry Bick­et, Peter Eötvös, Gen­na­di Rozhdestven­sky, René Jacobs, Philip Pick­ett, Rinal­do Allessan­dri­ni, or Andrey Boreyko.

He has per­formed at such venues as (among oth­ers): Opera Comique in Paris, De Ned­er­landse Opera in Ams­ter­dam, Eng­lish Nation­al Opera in Lon­don, New York City Opera, Deutsche Staat­sop­er Berlin, Glyn­de­bourne Opera Fes­ti­val, Théâtre des Champs Elysés, Théâtre­du Châtelet, Teatro Arria­ga in Bil­bao, fes­ti­vals: in Aix-en-Provence, Lon­don, Zurich, Paler­mo, Mon­treux Vevey, Con­cert­ge­bouw in Ams­ter­dam, Roy­al Fes­ti­val Hall, phil­har­mon­ics: in War­saw, Berlin, Munich, Tokyo, and Taipei.

Artur Ste­fanow­icz has made numer­ous record­ings, e.g. for: Pol­skie Nagra­nia, BMG, Era­to, Koch Clas­sics, or Hun­garo­ton.

Since 2005 he has coop­er­at­ed with his par­ent uni­ver­si­ty. He start­ed this col­lab­o­ra­tion at the Depart­ment of Vocal Stud­ies as Assis­tant in the class of Pro­fes­sor Jad­wiga Rap­pé. In 2008 he obtained a doc­tor­al degree and took up the post of Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of  Music, teach­ing his own vocal class.

In 2013 Artur Ste­fanow­icz obtained a post-doc­tor­al degree.
