Assistant Professor Aleksander Szebesczyk, DMus Hab.

Alek­sander Szebesczyk is a horn play­er of the Nation­al Phil­har­mon­ic Sym­pho­ny Orches­tra. He began to learn how to play the French horn at the age of 11 in Wrocław where he comes from. He grad­u­at­ed from the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw. In 1999 he was a hold­er of the Yama­ha Foun­da­tion schol­ar­ship. He devel­oped his horn play­ing skills under such out­stand­ing instru­men­tal­ists and vir­tu­osi as Jan Jeżews­ki, Zdenek Tyl­sar and Her­man Bau­mann.

At the age of twen­ty he start­ed work­ing at the Nation­al Phil­har­mon­ic orches­tra, he soon became its first horn play­er and soloist.  He has made numer­ous record­ings of sym­pho­ny music and par­tic­i­pat­ed in numer­ous con­cert tours with that orches­tra. He is also invit­ed to col­lab­o­rate with many lead­ing orches­tras and music ensem­bles such as:  Sin­fo­nia Varso­via, Con­cer­to Aven­na, Beethoven Acad­e­my Orches­tra, etc.

Alek­san­der Sze­be­sczyk has per­formed as a soloist with the fol­low­ing orches­tras: Nation­al Phil­har­mon­ic, Sin­fo­nia Var­so­via, Con­certo Aven­na, New Cham­ber Orches­tra,  Świę­tokrzys­ka Phil­har­mon­ic, and Orches­tra of the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw, per­form­ing con­cer­tos by For­ster, Mozart, Haydn, Strauss and Schu­man. He is also very active as a cham­ber musi­cian. He has been a mem­ber of the Brass Quin­tet of the Nation­al Phil­har­mon­ic since 1990, which is the date when it was found­ed.

He sits on the jury of all-Poland horn com­pe­ti­tions and con­ducts mas­ter cours­es for young horn play­ers. The album ‘Qat­tro­corno’, on which he alone record­ed all the horn quar­tet parts, has spe­cial place among his achieve­ments.

Alek­san­der Sze­be­sczyk is pro­fes­sion­al­ly con­nect­ed with the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music since 1990 when he, still being a stu­dent, start­ed work­ing as Assis­tant in the horn class of Pro­fes­sor Jan Jeżews­ki. In 2009, hav­ing com­plet­ed all pro­ce­dures for a post-doc­tor­al degree, he obtained a post-doc­tor­al title and the post of Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor.
