Agnieszka Kurowska-Janecka, DMus

Grad­u­ate of the Fry­deryk Chopin Acad­e­my of Music in War­saw, Depart­ment of Vocal and Act­ing Stud­ies, class of Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor Mag­dale­na Bojanows­ka. She com­plet­ed uni­ver­si­ty stud­ies in 1986 with hon­ours and an award for the best stu­dent of the year. She was a lau­re­ate of vocal com­pe­ti­tions: the Jan Kiepu­ra Com­pe­ti­tion (1986) the Karol Szy­ma­now­ski Com­pe­ti­tion (1987), and the Adam Didur Com­pe­ti­tion (1989). In the peri­od of 1984–1985 she was a trainee soloist at the Great The­atre in War­saw, and she won the schol­ar­ship of the Min­is­ter of Cul­ture and Art (twice).

In 1985–2009 she was a soloist at the War­saw Cham­ber Opera. She coop­er­at­ed with the Great The­atre – Nation­al Opera, the Baltic Opera and the Great The­atre in Poz­nań. In 1987 she played the role of Fior­di­ligi in a film ver­sion of the opera Cosí fan tutte, direct­ed by Krzysztof Tchórzews­ki. In her reper­toire she has over 40 main opera parts (includ­ing 18 Mozart’s char­ac­ters), as well as ora­to­rio parts from baroque to con­tem­po­rary ones, songs by French Impres­sion­ists and Russ­ian and Ger­man Roman­tics, but she par­tic­u­lar­ly val­ues Pol­ish music.

She has par­tic­i­pat­ed in Mozart fes­ti­vals e.g. in Madrid, El Esco­rial, Roubaix, w Pra­gue, Sevil­la, Cor­do­ba, Ali­cante, San­tiago de Com­po­stela, Festi­val de Opera de la Coruńa, Klang­bo­gen Wien, Carin­thi­scher Som­mer Vil­lach, Liege, Beirut, Vra­ti­sla­via Can­tans, Drezd­ner Musikfe­st­spiele, Music and The­atre Days in Poz­nań, Byd­go­szcz Opera Fes­ti­vals and Pas­chal­ Fes­ti­val at the Nation­al Opera, “Com­mu­ni­ca­tion” in Wrocław and oth­ers. She has giv­en con­certs in most coun­tries in Europe, and also in Israel, Japan, Lebanon and India. In 1997 she starred in Krzysztof Zanussi’s film The Last Cir­cle from the cycle Week­end Tales. In 2001 she was award­ed with the Gold­en Cross of Mer­it of the Repub­lic of Poland, and in 2006 she received a badge of the Min­is­ter of Cul­ture and Nation­al Her­itage “For Mer­its to the Pol­ish Cul­ture”. She received two nom­i­na­tions for the phono­graph­ic award “Fry­deryk”. In 2005 she was nom­i­nat­ed for the Andrzej Hiol­s­ki award for the role of Kostel­nič­ka in the opera Jenů­fa by L. Janáček. On her score card she has 7 CD albums, record­ings for the Pol­ish, Span­ish, French and Dutch tele­vi­sion (among oth­ers), as well as the Pol­ish, Irish and Aus­tri­an radio.

In 2007 she com­plet­ed Post­grad­u­ate Stud­ies in Speech Ther­a­py and Com­mu­ni­ca­tion Prag­mat­ics at the Acad­e­my of Spe­cial Ped­a­gogy. Since 2008 she has been a research employ­ee at the Chair of Audi­ol­o­gy and Pho­ni­atrics at the FCUM. She runs class­es in voice cre­at­ing activ­i­ties train­ing, speech ther­a­py and she teach­es vocal tech­niques for speech and singing. She par­tic­i­pates in research projects and schol­ar­ly con­fer­ences. Since 2009 she has head­ed Voice Pro­duc­tion Cours­es at the Depart­ment of Vocal and Act­ing Stud­ies. Since 2012 she has held the func­tion of Pres­i­dent of the Cul­tur­al Soci­ety in Faleni­ca. Since 2008 she has been Artis­tic Man­ag­er of the Faleni­ca Sum­mer Con­certs.
