The Karol Szymanowski Music Competition in Katowice – FCUM students

 

The first edi­tion of the Karol Szy­manows­ki Music Com­pe­ti­tion start­ed in Katow­ice on 10 Sep­tem­ber 2018 and it will last for two weeks.

It cov­ers 5 cat­e­gories: piano, vio­lin, singing, string quar­tet and com­po­si­tion.

She com­plet­ed her sec­ond cycle stud­ies at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music hav­ing stud­ied with Prof. Edward Wolanin and Assis­tant Radosław Sobczak.

Stu­dent at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music in War­saw, class of Prof. Joan­na Ławrynow­icz-Just.

CEREMONY OPENING THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2018/2019

The inau­gu­ra­tion will take place on 5 Octo­ber 2018, 10.00 hrs, at the FCUM Con­cert Hall.

In the pro­gramme: speech by His Mag­nif­i­cence Rec­tor, prof. dr hab. Klaudiusz Baran, pre­sen­ta­tion of the Medals for Mer­its to Cul­ture — Glo­ria Artis, fes­tive matric­u­la­tion and speech by a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Stu­dent Gov­ern­ment.

The first lec­ture in the new aca­d­e­m­ic year enti­tled “Writ­ten in the mem­o­ry of our aca­d­e­m­ic com­mu­ni­ty… On the con­nec­tions of Igna­cy Jan Pader­ws­ki with his par­ent uni­ver­si­ty” will be deliv­ered by prof. dr Mieczysława Dem­s­ka-Trębacz.  

The high­light of the cer­e­mo­ny will be the per­for­mances of stu­dents of the Depart­ment of Instru­men­tal Stud­ies, i.e., Daniel Mieczkows­ki (flute) and Adam Mazurek (cel­lo).

Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty Big Band is one of the most active ensem­bles at the FCUM. Win­ner of numer­ous prizes in Poland and abroad, the ensem­ble was found­ed in 2006 and it is com­prised of stu­dents of all uni­ver­si­ty depart­ments. Since 2012, its artis­tic man­ag­er is Piotr Kostrze­wa, musi­cian from Sin­fo­nia Varso­via, co-founder and artis­tic super­vi­sor of the Szy­manows­ki Big Band War­saw.

Professor Stanisław Moryto passed away

I inform with deep­est regret that Pro­fes­sor dr hab. Stanisław Mory­to, for­mer Rec­tor of the FCUM, com­pos­er and organ­ist, Hon­orary Doc­tor of Keimyung Uni­ver­si­ty passed away on 5 June 2018, after the strug­gle with a seri­ous dis­ease, at the age of 71. read more »

Promotion of Polish chamber music of the 20th and 21st centuries in Estonia

On 20–23 April 2018 in Tallinn and Tar­tu, Esto­nia, con­certs fea­tur­ing the FCUM’s pro­fes­sors and stu­dents as part of the project called “Pro­mo­tion of Pol­ish cham­ber music of the 20th and 21st cen­turies in Esto­nia”, which was co-financed by the Min­is­ter of Cul­ture and Nation­al Her­itage and Authors’ Asso­ci­a­tion ZAiKS, were held. Maestro Konstanty Andrzej Kulka receives Honorary Doctorate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music

Rec­tor and Sen­ate of the FCUM invite our University’s aca­d­e­m­ic com­mu­ni­ty to the cer­e­mo­ny dur­ing which the diplo­ma of an Hon­orary Doc­tor of the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music will be pre­sent­ed to the world-famous vio­lin­ist Mae­stro Kon­stan­ty Andrzej Kul­ka. The cer­e­mo­ny will be held on 24 May 2018, 12:00 hrs in Con­cert Hall. Per­form­ers in the artis­tic part will be: Kon­stan­ty Andrzej Kul­ka – soloist and the CAMERATA VISTULA ensem­ble. Admis­sion with invi­ta­tions.

The retroNight of Museums at the FCUM

The retroN­ight of Muse­ums at the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music is an orig­i­nal project of the artis­tic com­mu­ni­ty of Warsaw’s musi­cians pre­pared in col­lab­o­ra­tion with the Acad­e­my of Fine Arts in War­saw. It is a con­cert of music hits of the 1970s and 1980s in jazz and dance arrange­ments. A swing dance night dur­ing which you will be enter­tained by live music. The retroN­ight of Muse­ums at the FCUM is also a jazz jam ses­sion and great food. read more »

JUWENALIA ARTYSTYCZNE 2018 – A STUDENTSFAIRYTALE STYLE PARTY!

11–12 May 2018

On 11th and 12th of May 2018 the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music changes into a fes­ti­val town. The stu­dents of Warsaw’s music, art and dra­ma acad­e­mies invite you for a jour­ney of mem­o­ries and emo­tions from the child­hood.

As the main theme of our par­ty is FAIRYTALE, they jour­ney may turn out to be extreme­ly excit­ing. The art can be under­stood through games and fun.

On the first day there will be a con­cert of Stu­dents Sym­phon­ic Orches­tra at the Con­cert Hall of FCUM with the great­est hits from Disney’s, Pixar’s and Burton’s movies.

In the evening we will move to the park where you can meet huge stars such as MIKROMUSIC, BRODKA, BOVSKA and NATALIA PRZYBYSZ.

We intend to keep you in a fairy­tale mood till the ear­ly morn­ing hours.
