Debate “Chopin’s health”

12 February 2010, 11.00 am
K. Szymanowski Auditorium

For several years it was commonly maintained that Fryderyk Chopin died from laryngeal and pulmonary tuberculosis. Recently, however, a hypothesis was advanced that the real cause of the composer’s death was cystic fibrosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). These hypotheses were discussed, for the first time ever, during a debate organised by FCUM and attended by the leading experts on pulmonary medicine. The participants presented the latest medical developments in their field and shared thoughts on whether the great composer could have lived longer than his 39 years to create even more masterpieces had he had access to today’s diagnostic solutions. read more »
