The Unit of Acting was established in connection with the change of profile of Department 6 – the Department of Vocal Studies was transformed into the Department of Vocal and Acting Studies. The range of acting and movement subjects was substantially widened in the curriculum.

The teaching staff was joined by outstanding teachers from the Theatre Academy in Warsaw such as: Cezary Morawski, PhD, or Katarzyna Małachowska.

The Unit carries out and develops a very fruitful cooperation with the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theatre Academy in Warsaw, which results in interesting opera performances directed by students of the Academy’s Department of Directing. The contemporary theatre life is supported and provoked in an outstanding way by very brave and artistically brilliant opera performances, constituting more and more difficult acting tasks for vocalists. Therefore, the decision of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music authorities to establish the Unit of Acting seems understandable.

Head of the Unit of Acting is Professor Grzegorz Chrapkiewicz.
