PIANO, HARPSICHORD AND ORGAN
The University’s new concert hall organ
Department 2 instructs instrumental specialists with the following Specialties: Piano Playing, Harpsichord Playing and Organ Playing.
The piano class trains virtuoso pianists and also prepares students for work in chamber orchestras and teaching. Compulsory subjects (e.g.): piano, chamber music and jazz improvisation on the 1st degree Studies (BA Studies) and specialist literature, propaedeutics of contemporary piano music, instrument construction, and harpsichord or organ literature on the 2nd degree Studies (MA Studies). Piano classes are taught by Professors: Andrzej Dutkiewicz, Anna Jastrzębska-Quinn, Bronisława Kawalla-Ryszka, Alicja Paleta-Bugaj, Piotr Paleczny, Ewa Pobłocka, Jerzy Romaniuk, Jerzy Sterczyński, Maria Stojek-Kot, Maria Szraiber, Elżbieta Tarnawska, Edward Wolanin, Assistant Professor Paweł Kamiński and Elżbieta Karaś-Krasztel, PhD.
The harpsichord class trains virtuoso harpsichord players and also prepares students for work in chamber orchestras and teaching. Major subjects on the 1st degree Studies (BA Studies) are (among others): harpsichord, chamber music, basso continuo, harmonia, and execution of Musica Antiqua; on the 2nd degree Studies (MA Studies): instrument construction, improvisation and others. Harpsichord classes are taught by Professors: Leszek Kędracki and Władysław Kłosiewicz.
The organ class trains virtuoso organists and also prepares students for work in the fields of culture and teaching. Major subjects on the 1st degree Studies (BA Studies) are (among others): organ, chamber music, basso continuo, Gregorian chorale and liturgical playing. On the 2nd degree Studies (MA Studies) major subjects are also: organology, specialist literature and. Organ classes are taught by Professors: Andrzej Chorosiński, Magdalena Czajka, Piotr Wilczyński, Jarosław Malanowicz i Józef Serafin and Assistant Professor Jerzy Dziubiński.
The class of piano chamber music. It educates pianists, singers and instrumentalists by letting them develop as soloists and virtuoso performers; it gives them a professional and psychological basis in chamber music playing; it gives them the knowledge, skills and the ability to work as a team in the spirit of a musical partnership. It prepares them for holding functions in different musical institutions, such as music schools at various levels. It covers BA and MA studies. Classes of Piano Chamber Music are run by: Krystyna Borucińska, Krystyna Makowska-Ławrynowicz, Maja Nosowska, Katarzyna Jankowska-Borzykowska, Andrzej Guz, Joanna Maklakiewicz, Iwona Mironiuk, Robert Morawski.
There are individual classes in piano, chamber music and organ playing (or harpsichord playing) organized as part of Postgraduate Studies in Piano, Chamber Music, Organ and Harpsichord, Postgraduate Studies for Pianists in the Specialty “Coaching” and Postgraduate Interdepartmental Singing Course.
From the Academic Year 2012/2013 candidates for the second degree studies can apply for widening their chosen Major with multimedia subjects, in a form of an individual plan of studies, as part of the project called the Inter-University Multimedia Program (MSM) run by the Department of Sound Engineering, which is a continuation of the project co-financed by the Operating Programme “Human Capital” as part of the European Social Fund.
