Depart­ment 2 instructs instru­men­tal spe­cial­ists with the fol­low­ing Spe­cial­ties: Piano Play­ing, Harp­si­chord Play­ing and Organ Playing.

The piano class trains vir­tu­oso pianists and also pre­pares stu­dents for work in cham­ber orches­tras and teach­ing. Com­pul­sory sub­jects (e.g.): piano, cham­ber music and jazz impro­vi­sa­tion on the 1st degree Stud­ies (BA Stud­ies) and spe­cial­ist lit­er­a­ture, propaedeu­tics of con­tem­po­rary piano music, instru­ment con­struc­tion, and harp­si­chord or organ lit­er­a­ture on the 2nd degree Stud­ies (MA Stud­ies). Piano classes are taught by Pro­fes­sors: Andrzej Dutkiewicz, Anna Jastrzębska-Quinn, Bro­nisława Kawalla-Ryszka, Alicja Paleta-Bugaj, Piotr Paleczny, Ewa Pobłocka, Jerzy Roma­niuk, Jerzy Ster­czyński, Maria Stojek-Kot, Maria Szraiber, Elż­bi­eta Tar­nawska, Edward Wolanin, Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor Paweł Kamiński and Elż­bi­eta Karaś-Krasztel, PhD.

The harp­si­chord class trains vir­tu­oso harp­si­chord play­ers and also pre­pares stu­dents for work in cham­ber orches­tras and teach­ing. Major sub­jects on the 1st degree Stud­ies (BA Stud­ies) are (among oth­ers): harp­si­chord, cham­ber music, basso con­tinuo, har­mo­nia, and exe­cu­tion of Musica Anti­qua; on the 2nd degree Stud­ies (MA Stud­ies): instru­ment con­struc­tion, impro­vi­sa­tion and oth­ers. Harp­si­chord classes are taught by Pro­fes­sors: Leszek Kędracki and Władysław Kłosiewicz.

The organ class trains vir­tu­oso organ­ists and also pre­pares stu­dents for work in the fields of cul­ture and teach­ing. Major sub­jects on the 1st degree Stud­ies (BA Stud­ies) are (among oth­ers): organ, cham­ber music, basso con­tinuo, Gre­go­rian chorale and litur­gi­cal play­ing. On the 2nd degree Stud­ies (MA Stud­ies) major sub­jects are also: organol­ogy, spe­cial­ist lit­er­a­ture and. Organ classes are taught by Pro­fes­sors: Andrzej Chorosiński, Mag­dalena Cza­jka, Piotr Wilczyński, Jarosław Malanow­icz i Józef Ser­afin and Assis­tant Pro­fes­sor Jerzy Dziubiński.

There are indi­vid­ual classes in piano, cham­ber music and organ play­ing (or harp­si­chord play­ing) orga­nized as part of Post­grad­u­ate Stud­ies in Piano, Cham­ber Music, Organ and Harp­si­chord, Post­grad­u­ate Stud­ies for Pianists in the Spe­cialty “Coach­ing” and Post­grad­u­ate Inter­de­part­men­tal Singing Course.
