Specialty: Jazz and World Music

In the time of constant development of multimedia technologies and demand for new creative artistic productions in the area of music, it was necessary to initiate a new specialty at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, which would be meant for instrument players whose field of activity is the widely understood jazz and world music.

In the academic year 2017/2018, the Department of Instrumental Studies opened the major called Jazz and Stage Music, specialty Jazz and World Music. The studies are addressed to active performers who in their creative work search for innovation in the performed music, considering the changes it is subject to. The essence of the studies opened at the FCUM is a personal plan created by students, a kind of vision including their artistic aims and development using the range of solutions offered by universities.

Classes are mainly based on projects, practical lessons, masterclasses with renowned artists, contacts with representatives of the community, thus they will give students an opportunity to determine their artistic path and creative searches based on analysing and reflecting on their work as performers and artistic identity. Students will learn great creative presentation techniques and skills.
