INSTRUMENTAL STUDIES
This is the largest of the FCUM departments. It is responsible for the training of instrumentalists, persons who specialise in playing a musical instrument. Ramified education at this Department is aimed at the training of virtuosos, members of chamber orchestras and orchestra players. Students of all theses disciplines must take the following compulsory subjects: main instrument, orchestra (or choir for accordionists and guitar players), chamber ensembles, playing with accompaniment, literature for their particular instrument.

From the Academic Year 2010/2011 candidates for the second degree studies can apply for widening their chosen Major with multimedia subjects, in a form of an individual plan of studies, as part of the project called the Inter-University Multimedia Program (MSM) run by the Department of Sound Engineering, which is a continuation of the project co-financed by the Operating Programme “Human Capital” as part of the European Social Fund.
