Warsaw Solists CONCERTO AVENNA

Artistic Director — Professor Andrzej Mysiński

The ensemble was founded in 1985 on the initiative of a harpsichordist Władysław Kłosiewicz and bassist Andrzej Mysiński. It consists of the graduates and lecturers of the Warsaw’s music university, as well as the previous members of the Polish Chamber Orchestra of Jerzy Maksymiuk. The orchestra specializes in interpreting the Baroque music, preserving its typical technical means but using contemporary instruments, which gives surprising artistic effect, approved and admired by the listeners on the one hand, and on the other hand, regarded controversial to say the least. Apart from the Baroque repertoire the ensemble also performs the works written specially for it by the Polish contemporary composers. The orchestra is famous in Poland and worldwide from numerous radio, television and album recordings (38 CD’s) and, first of all, from the concerts, which brought them many enthusiastic reviews. They permanently cooperate with outstanding Polish and foreign soloists, such as: E. Chojnacka, J. Rappé, O. Pasiecznik, E. Małas-Godlewska, W. Kłosiewicz, M. Toporowski, T. Strahl, A. Kruszewski, K. A. Kulka, K. Jakowicz, P. Pławner, K. Danczowska, T. Wojnowicz, I. Monighetti, A. Dalton, E. Kirkby, M. Chance, P. Esswood and M. Petri. In 1990 the orchestra was honoured with the award of the Warsaw Voivod for its outstanding achievements in performances and promotion of Baroque music, and in 2006 the Minister of Culture and National Heritage awarded it with the title “Zasłużony dla Kultury Polskiej” (Contributions to Polish Culture). CONCERTO AVENNA is sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and by the Capital City of Warsaw Municipal Office.
