The FCUM Brass and Woodwind Band

The idea to create a great brass and woodwind formation at Warsaw’s University of Music came from Professor Mirosław Pokrzywiński (who then was head of Chair of Woodwind and Brass Instruments) and was connected with the need to honour the 40th anniversary ceremony of this Chair. The first concert of the orchestra took place on 15th December 1998 in the Academy’s Concert Hall and was conducted by Paweł Przytocki.

When Professor Jerzy Jeżewski was appointed a proxy of the symphony ensemble, the orchestra started its regular participation in the concert life of the Academy, starting the cooperation with Grzegorz Mielimąka, which lasts until today. The diversity of the programmes performed by the orchestra, colorful harmonies and syncopation rhythms characteristic for its sound, are another musical adventure for the students from the orchestra, and the full Concert Hall every year proves that the audience is very interested their performances.
