The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music Symphony Orchestra is a group of excellent young musicians, students of the Department of Instrumental Studies. For many years now the orchestra has co-operated with the most outstanding masters of the baton from Poland and abroad, including professors of our university and the artistic directors of most of the Polish philharmonics. Under their direction and with outstanding soloists (pedagogues and guest artists) the orchestra has had many successes, both at the university, and on tours to many concert halls all over the world. The Symphony Orchestra has also recorded for the radio and record companies. The Symphony Orchestra plans its artistic programme several years in advance so that, in the course of their studies, graduates of the Department of Instrumental Studies can learn the secrets of performance of music representing different periods and styles, including individual composers’ styles in the area of contemporary music.
