Inter-College Baroque Orchestra
Artistic Director and Leader — Agata Sapiecha

The ensemble has existed for a few years already at the Inter-College Unit of Early Music at the Warsaw Academy (now University) of Music under the direction of Assistant Professor Agata Sapiecha. Bringing this initiative to life was only possible thanks to the cooperation with the Academy of Music in Cracow, and especially to Prof. Elżbieta Stefańska’s commitment to the development of common didactic and artistic undertakings. At present, a few universities in Poland (apart from the FCUM and Academy of Music in Cracow — Poznań, Katowice, Gdańsk, Wrocław), and sometimes also foreign pedagogues and students, participate in it. Annual meetings of students and pedagogues during the next editions of the Early Music Forum at the FCUM, as well as performances as part of the concert cycles or festivals organized by Polish universities (e.g. Bach Days in Cracow, For Fans and Connoisseurs in Warsaw), strengthen this cooperation and at the same time give the possibility of development in artistic and didactic disciplines. Beginning of the cooperation between the Inter-College Unit of Early Music and Chair of Vocal Studies created a great opportunity to organize and realize the vocal-instrumental projects that are so crucial for early music. The initiative of Prof. Jadwiga Rappé and Assistant Prof. Agata Sapiecha, joined soon by other outstanding pedagogues, has already resulted in numerous music projects as part of the so called the Passion and Advent Concerts. In the season of 2006/2007 this cooperation lead to performing the oratorio La Resurrezione by G. F. Haendel, in the following seasons fragments of J.S. Bach’s Magnificat and St. Matthew Passion were performed, while in the previous season the orchestra participated in in the performance of the opera L’amante di tutte by B. Galuppi on the stage of the Warsaw Chamber Opera, and the cantatas by G.Ph. Telemann and St. John Passion by J.S. Bach on the stage of its parent university.
