The Period Instrument Orchestra of the Interdepartmental Unit of Early Music

Artistic Director — Agata Sapiecha, DMus Hab.

The orchestra has existed for a couple of years already under the direction of Agata Sapiecha. Bringing this initiative to life was only possible thanks to the cooperation with the Academy of Music in Cracow, and especially to Prof. Elżbieta Stefańska’s commitment. At present, a few universities in Poland, and sometimes also foreign teachers and students participate in it. Annual meetings of students and teachers during the subsequent editions of the Early Music Forum at the FCUM, as well as performances as part of the concert cycles or festivals organized by Polish universities (e.g. Bach Days in Cracow), strengthen this cooperation, and at the same time give the possibility of development in artistic and didactic disciplines. Vocal-and-instrumental projects, which are so important for early music, presented as part of the “Passion Concerts” and the “Advent Concerts”, are a result of the cooperation between the Interdepartmental Unit of Early Music and the Chair of Vocal Studies.
