CHOPIN VOCAL CONSORT
Artistic Director — Professor Ryszard Zimak

The ensemble consists of the academic teachers, graduates and students of the University of Music in Warsaw, representing various musical disciplines. The ensemble was formally created in 1997, but it continues the artistic aims of one that existed earlier — Chamber Choir of The Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, working in the period of 1986–1991. In their repertoire there are both a cappella works and great vocal-instrumental works of all the historical periods. The Choir gives concerts in Poland and abroad. Their important performances were the multiple presentation of Petite Messe Solennelle by G. Rossini in Sicily, performing Mass in B Minor, St. John Passion and Christmas Oratorio by J. S. Bach as part of the cycle “Wednesday an the Academy of Music”, as well as Stabat Mater by G. B. Pergolesi presented at the National Philharmonic. A great honour for the ensemble was the performance of Requiem by W. A. Mozart together with the world famous Orchestra of the 18th Century conducted by Frans Brüggen at the Concert Studio S-1 for the 157 anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin’s death. The FCUM Vocal Consort also participated in many music festivals. The manager of the ensemble from the beginning of its existence is Małgorzata Szymanek-Piotrowska.
