 Artistic Manager — Rafał Janiak

Photo Rafał Chojnacki

The ensemble was founded in 2017, initiated by Professor Klaudiusz Baran, Rector of Warsaw’s university of music, who entrusted its artistic supervision to conductor Rafał Janiak. The idea which stood behind the creation of the orchestra was to carefully select musicians so that the ensemble could present very diverse, often innovative, programme not just at the University of Music but also outside of it, all that in order to promote the high artistic level of the FCUM. Members of the orchestra are outstanding students selected in multi-stage auditions. The core of the ensemble are the strings but – depending on needs – there is an option to collaborate with almost any talented instrumentalist connected with the FCUM. The ensemble’s way of functioning is a novelty among similar groups at artistic universities which, as intended by its founders, should be reflected in the high artistic level of the orchestra and add a unique value to music events featuring it.
