Professor Stanisław Moryto passed away

I inform with deep­est regret that Pro­fes­sor dr hab. Stanisław Mory­to, for­mer Rec­tor of the FCUM, com­pos­er and organ­ist, Hon­orary Doc­tor of Keimyung Uni­ver­si­ty passed away on 5 June 2018, after the strug­gle with a seri­ous dis­ease, at the age of 71.

Prof. Stanisław Mory­to was a long-stand­ing aca­d­e­m­ic teacher who was con­nect­ed with our Uni­ver­si­ty for over forty years. There he achieved all steps of aca­d­e­m­ic career. In the peri­od of 1996–2002 he was Vice-Rec­tor at the FCUM, and from 2002 to 2005 he held the func­tion of Dean of the Depart­ment of Com­po­si­tion, Con­duct­ing and The­o­ry of Music. Between 2005 and 2012, as Rec­tor, he head­ed the Fry­deryk Chopin Uni­ver­si­ty of Music for two terms of office.

Prof. Stanisław Mory­to was hon­oured with Commander’s Cross of the Order of Polo­nia Resti­tu­ta. He received numer­ous min­is­te­r­i­al awards and was a mer­i­to­ri­ous nation­al cul­ture activist.

Holy Mass and funer­al of late Prof. Stanisław Mory­to will be held on Wednes­day 13 June 2018 at 10.30 hrs at the Saint Cross Basil­i­ca on Krakowskie Przed­mieś­cie Street.
For our aca­d­e­m­ic com­mu­ni­ty mem­bers will­ing to attend Prof. Stanisław Moryto’s obse­quies, there will be a coach pro­vid­ed and it will wait in front of the church at 12.15 from where it will depart for the Mil­i­tary Ceme­tery in Powąz­ki. The funer­al will start at 13.00.
