Test material for the Department of Sound Engineering
- Knowledge of the media
- oral - test of candidates' predisposition to the sound engineering profession, their general sonar sensitivity and imagination, sensitivity to sonar colour and general knowledge of culture and the media;
- written - selection of one of several subjects concerning familiarity with musical works for the cinema, theatre, television and radio musical recordings, history of culture including historical background.
- Ear training and harmony
- written - dictation: memory, harmonic, three-part, correction of errors in a musical text, melody harmonising;
- oral - singing at sight, recognition of chord types and harmonic combinations, playing cadenzas, progressions and modulations.
- Mathematics and physics - written and oral
material - high school, new school-leaving examination ("matura"), advanced course
- mathematics - trigonometry, function property analysis and domain identification, equations and inequalities, trigonometric equations, calculus of probability
written - 5-6 problems
- physics - physical units, mechanics, optics, acoustics, electricity
written - 2 to 3 problems
- Instrument
- presentation of prepared program (any three pieces, preferably representing different styles) on a chosen instrument (agreed upon beforehand with the Department Office). The candidate's musicality will be the main focus of assessment, not technical proficiency.
