Music Education

This Department prepares students for general and school music education. Students can major in conducting of instrumental and vocal ensembles, choral conducting, school music (day and evening courses), church music, rhythmics and ballet teachers training (eight semesters, extramural course). Studies at this department are addressed to ensemble conductors and comprehensive and music school teachers. There is a rich syllabus of group and individual classes. Main subjects include:

Choir conducting - conducting, methods of conducting vocal and instrumental ensembles, music literature, psychology, pedagogy, aural training, voice and methods of voice training, score reading and analysis, piano accompaniment classes, and vocal and instrumental ensembles;

Church music - organ, liturgical accompaniment, improvisation and basso continuo, voice and enunciation, conducting classes;

Rhythmics - rhythmics, rhythmics ensemble, movement techniques, dancing, piano improvisation, methods of rhythmics, musical appreciation methodology, psychology, pedagogy, seminar on Dalcroze's method and teaching training;

Principal subjects are run by the following professors: Andrzej Banasiewicz, Magdalena Czajka, Danuta Dobrowolska-Marucha, Szabolcs Esztényi, Bogdan Gola, Marta Gozdecka-Lesz, Ewa Marchwicka, Irena Protasewicz, Malgorzata Szpinalska, Kazimierz Szymonik, Maria Wacholc, Ewa Wycichowska, Ryszard Zimak.

Ballet teachers training - methods of dance (classical, folk, characteristic and historical), contemporary dance and methodology, jazz dance and methodology, principles of dance composition, dance literature, partner dancing, methods of musical ensemble training, pedagogy, psychology, teaching practice, aesthetics of dance, and history of ballet.
