Chair of Chamber Music

The AMFC Chair of Chamber Music links the activities of the Chair of Piano Chamber Music, the different instrumental chairs and the Chair of Vocal Studies with respect to the rendering of chamber music. The chair is made up of those pedagogues who are in charge of chamber ensembles.

The didactic and artistic initiatives of the Unit of Piano Chamber Music and the various Chairs shape the work and activity of the AMFC chamber ensembles - from duets, trios and quartets to instrumental and instrumental-vocal ensembles counting over a dozen members.

In the 1999/2000 academic year we wish to organise a number of concerts of the various ensembles in our Chair, a string quartet and piano trio workshop conducted by our distinguished pedagogues. We also wish to begin to prepare for soirées of Polish music and Mozart and Beethoven's string quartets in preparation for the International Chamber Music Competition in Lodz (2001) and Gdansk (2003). Our Chair also supervises primary and secondary music schools.

The two most recent heads of the Chair of Chamber Music were Professor Roman Siwek, Professor Pawel Losakiewicz and Professor Marek Szwarc. Commencing from the academic year 2005/2006 the Chair will be headed by Professor Pawel Losakiewicz.
