Unit of Harp and Guitar

The Unit of Harp and Guitar at the AMFC in Warsaw was established in October 1993 under the leadership of Professor Urszula Mazurek who continned to be the head of the Unit until 2007.

Activites:
1) teaching and education
2) artistic activity and research

Ad.1. Members of our Unit have developed charter programs aimed at perfection of the methods of teaching the harp and the guitar, not only at our Academy but above all at music primary and high schools. Children who have taken Professor Urszula Mazurek's charter program for the harp have achieved very good results. Joanna Liberadzka won the International Lily Laskin Harp Competition in 1999 and is one of the candidates for a Ministry of Culture award. Members and students of our Unit help to prepare children and adolescents who are learning music to perform at concerts. They are also continually adding to the collection of music scores and recordings.

Ad.2. Our Unit is involved in many artistic and research activities. Its members perform, sit on the juries of national and international competitions, take part in scientific sessions and organise seminars, master courses, music workshops and concerts. Pedagogues, students, music school pupils, former students and professional musicians from all over Poland take part in these seminars, concerts and master courses.
