Pedagogical Studies
Pedagogical Studies, headed by Professor Zofia Konaszkiewicz, were established in 1996. This unit is responsible for teaching pedagogical subjects to senior students of all the departments of the AMFC. These subjects are optional and are free of charge for AMFC students.
Every student who applies to the Pedagogical Studies unit is registered and is given a credit sheet in which every successfully completed subject and examination is documented.
In accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts the Pedagogical Studies unit teaches the following subjects:
psychology: 60 hours of lectures (one year, 2 hours a week) and 30 hours of seminars (half a year 2 hours a week)
pedagogy: 60 hours of lectures (one year, 2 hours a week) and 30 hours of seminars (half a year 2 hours a week)
teaching methods: 60 hours of lectures (one year, 2 hours a week) and 30 hours of seminars (half a year 2 hours a week)
multimedia studies: 60 hours of lectures
150 hours of teaching practice at schools.
This adds up to 90 hours of psychology, 90 hours of pedagogy, 60 hours of teaching methods, 60 hours of multimedia and 150 hours of teaching practice.
Students have their whole term at the Academy to complete this Course, the only reservation being that they must take the lectures in their first year and only then can they take the seminars, method of teaching and teaching practice (which gives at least 2 years).
Graduates of Pedagogical Studies obtain a teacher's certificate in their selected speciality. This gives them full teaching qualifications (which are also recognised abroad) and entitles them to higher pay if they work as teachers. According to the provisions of the recent Educational Reform persons who do not have appropriate and documented pedagogical qualifications shall not be employed as school teachers.
