Unit of Comprehensive Piano Studies
The Unit of Comprehensive Piano Studies was founded in 1994 on the initiative of Professor Marta Gozdecka-Lesz who manage it to October 2002.
One of the most important activities of the Unit has been the up-dating of the comprehensive piano studies syllabus for the different departments of the Academy, followed by modification of the profile of student auditions. Auditions now include poetry, classical dancing, musical quizzes and exhibitions of etchings and pictures by the Warsaw Academy of Art. The Unit of Comprehensive Piano Studies has also begun to publish its own research bulletins containing articles by members of the faculty. Four bulletins have now been published.
In 1996 the Department of Music Education began to organise a competition for students sitting their final examination in "comprehensive music studies". The second edition of the competition took place in 1997. Two years later (1999) the competition evolved into the First "Piano Miniature" Competition. All students for whom the piano is not the main instrument can take part in this competition. The Second "Piano Miniature" Competition took place in December 2000.
The purpose of the student auditions and competitions is to activate students, improve the level of instruction, and thereby to improve the prestige of "comprehensive piano studies".
