Harp soloist, chamber musician, educator. She has given numerous recitals, concerts with orchestras and performances with outstanding soloists and conductors throughout her career. She has played in Poland and abroad, e.g., in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, Portugal, Cuba and Mexico. She has also sat on the juries of many harp competitions. She has made many archival recordings of solo and chamber music for Radio and Television in Poland and abroad. She was the first Polish harpist to make gramophone recordings.
Urszula Mazurek created the "Warsaw Harp Trio". Many distinguished contemporary composers wrote music especially for this Trio, e.g., M. Ptaszynska, E. Boguslawski, M. Malecki, T. Paciorkiewicz, W. Szalonek, B. Schaeffer, K. Meyer, W. Kazanecki and Z. Wiszniewski.
Many of her former students are now excellent harpists and teachers (Anna Sikorzak-Olek, Sylwia Kowalczuk, Grazyna Strzeszewska-Lis, Anna Faber, Jadwiga Okon, Mercedes Gomez, Angela Padilla to name but a few).
Since 1972 Professor Mazurek has been in charge of a harp class at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. She also teaches courses on ensemble playing for orchestra players, harp literature, methods of teaching the harp, and educational practice. She is Consultant at the K. Kurpinski Primary Music School in Warsaw and teaches the harp at the F. Chopin Secondary Music School in Warsaw. She has organised numerous seminaries, courses and lectures and invited many distinguished artists from Poland and abroad to conduct them.
Professor Urszula Mazurek has been awarded the Gold Cross of Merit, the Meritorious Culture Activist Medal, the Award of the Rector, Level 1 and 2, and the Individual Award of the Minister of Culture and Art, level 2, for her comprehensive artistic and educational activities.
