Professor Bronisława Kawalla-Ryszka
Descendant and continuator of a family music tradition. Graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw. Winner of many prestigious piano competitions including the International Bach Competition in Washington in 1975. A distinguished pianist and greatly respected teacher. She deepened her knowledge of music in Paris with Nadia Boulanger, Monique Haas and Philippe Entremont at Academie Internationale de Maurice Ravel.
Bronisława Kawalla has performed at renowned concert halls in Europe, Canada, USA, Asia and Latin America. This Polish pianist has been applauded at international festivals, e.g., in Baltimore, Bratislava, Cheltenham, Duszniki and Mariánské Lazně. Bronisława Kawalla also plays with well-known symphony orchestras including the National Philharmonic, the Grand Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice, Berliner Sinfonie Orchester, the Dublin Radio and Television Orchestra, and many others.
Bronisława Kawalla is a successful teacher. Over a span of more than 30 years she has educated over 60 Polish and foreign students who graduated from her class at the Academy of Music in Warsaw. Not only Polish pianists benefit from her knowledge and skills. The Polish professor is known and valued at renowned academies in the USA, UK, Japan, Germany, Spain, Switzerland and other countries all over the world.
Professor Kawalla is also invited to give master courses and lectures, mainly on the interpretation of Fryderyk Chopin's work, at home and abroad. Her students and former students have won many prizes at piano competitions in Poland and abroad and they are active performers and teach at music academies and schools. Edward Wolanin, Filip Wojciechowski, Paweł Mazurkiewicz and Radosław Sobczak (the best Pole at the 14th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in 2002) are just some of Professor Bronisława Kawalla's former students.
Voluntary work occupies an important place in Professor Kawalla's life. A member of the executive board of the Karol Szymanowski Society in Zakopane until recently, she has now been elected vice-chairman of the executive board of the Fryderyk Chopin Society. Professor Bronisława Kawalla is a founding member of the "Nike" Lions Club in Poland.
Bronisława Kawalla holds several awards for her teaching and artistic work, granted to her by the Ministry of Culture and Art and the Minister for Foreign Affairs.
