Professor Kazimierz Gierzod
Kazimierz Gierzod, pianist and pedagogue, studied at the Frederic Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw under the supervision of Professor Malgorzata Trombini-Kazuro. He graduated with honours in 1962.
He improved his competencies further at the Chigiana Academy in Sienna where he studied under the supervision of Professor Guido Agosti and obtained a "Diploma di merito".
Kazimierz Gierzod won the first prize at the Festival of Young Musicians in Gdansk in 1964. Ever since he has been performing continually in Poland and abroad. He has given recitals in many countries in Europe, Australia, Japan, the United States of America, South America, Cyprus and Kuwait. He has made many recordings for Polish Radio and Television, foreign broadcasting stations as well as for record companies in Poland and the Federal Republic of Germany. He often exposes Polish music in his concert programs. Ever since he graduated from college Kazimierz Gierzod has taught at his alma mater. He leads his own piano class and has educated many pianists from Poland, Argentina, Canada, Chile, Spain, Japan, Yugoslavia and Ukraine. In 1975-87 he was dean of the Department of Piano, Harpsichord and Organ. Since 1976 he has been the head of summer courses in interpretation for Japanese pianists where he has also taught himself. He also leads master courses abroad. Kazimierz Gier¿od has been invited to sit on the juries of international piano competitions. Since 1988 he has been visiting professor at Soai University in Osaka.
He has done two terms as rector of the AMFC in Warsaw (1987-90, 1990-94) and has been in charge of the Second Chair of Piano since 1999.
