Elżbieta Dastych-Szwarc graduated with honours from the Ignacy Paderewski State College of Music in Poznań where she studied under Professor Augustyn Boczek.
She continued her studies at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome in 1962-63 under Professor Silvio Clerici and then in professor Louis Poulet's chamber class in Brussels which she finished with honours. Simultaneously she attended summer music courses in Sienna (Italy) where she received a diploma in chamber music and the flute in Professor Severino Gazzelloni's class. In 1962-1985 she was first flautist of the Teatr Wielki - National Opera and National Philharmonic orchestras in Warsaw. She has performed for Polish Radio and Television at composers' concerts, chamber concerts and as a soloist in many towns in Poland and abroad. She has been conducting flute workshops and courses for many years, e.g., in Olsztyn (1992), Gdańsk (1995), Koszalin 1997). She has also been invited to serve as a Ministry of Culture and National Heritage consultant for primary and secondary music schools all over the country. She combines her consultations with lectures on methods of flute playing, the physiological determinants of flute playing and technical and artistic skills improvement. She also sits on the juries of flute competitions in Poland and abroad (Cracow, Włoszakowice, Lvov).
Elżbieta Dastych-Szwarc has worked at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw since 1972 where she is now full professor. She also co-operates with the Music High School and the Complex of State Music Schools in Warsaw. She taught a flute master class in Seoul, South Korea, in 1993-1994.
She has been co-operating with the Keimyung Chopin Academy of Music in Daegu (South Korea) as professor of the flute class since 2003.
