She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin Higher College of Music in Warsaw. She studied the piano with J. Wobożil, I. Kirjacka and J. Lefeld. Her main focus of interest is chamber music which she studied in Z. Vogtman and K. Wiłkomirski's classes. As a member of duets and "Trio Warszawskie" (The Warsaw Trio) she won several national and international competitions (Gdańsk, Bordeaux, Belgrade).

Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka has been a very active performer and has played with such distinguished artists as Roman Jabłoński, Krzysztof Jakowicz, Andrzej Hiolski, Pierre Amoyal, Anna Karasińska and Olga Pasiecznik. She takes part in recitals organised by all the Polish Philharmonics and other musical institutions. She has played in nearly every country in Europe and also in the USA, Canada, Mexico and Cuba. She has taken part in numerous, prestigious music festivals (e.g., Flanders Festival, "Leporello" in Szleswig-Holstein, "Cervantino" in Mexico, Łańcut Festival, "Warsaw Autumn", the Chopin Festivals in Duszniki). She has given first performances of the works of contemporary Polish composers: Witold Lutosławski, Marta Ptaszyńska, Piotr Mossa.

Recording occupies a special place in Krystyna Borucińska's artistic work. She has recorded several dozens of hours for Polish Radio archives. She has also frequently recorded for foreign broadcasting stations, mainly BBC (over a dozen recording sessions in London, Manchester, Bristol and Glasgow).

She has also recorded a number of records including monographic recordings of Karol Szymanowski's music with the violinist Krzysztof Jakowicz.
A book edited by Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka Playing a vista as an Essential Element of Music Education (in Polish), was published in 2006.
Krystyna Borucińska-Żarnecka also teaches. She is a professor at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw where she teaches a piano chamber music class.
