Intercollegiate Multimedia Artistic Creation Laboratory

On the force of an agreement between the Rectors of the Academy of Fine Arts and the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, signed in 2001, a new specialisation was formed: the Intercollegiate Multimedia Artistic Creation Laboratory at the Graphics Department, Academy of Fine Arts. The syllabus, developed by plenipotentiaries of the two Higher Educational Establishments, Professor Stanisław Wieczorek (currently Professor Wiktor Jędrzejec is the acting plenipotentiary), Academy of Fine Art, and Professor Andrzej Trybuła, Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music, is a pioneering proposal whose purpose is to meet challenges worthy of the 21st century. It is also an attempt to meet public needs which flow from the advancement of multimedia digital technology and the realities of a changing civilisation.

The basic purpose of instruction at this Laboratory is to train highly qualified producers of multimedia artistic productions who will meet the needs of the culture and the economy. Realisation of this goal is multifaceted and is based on a group of core subjects from the fields of art and music which, together with specialist subjects, define the nature and structure of this course and the graduate's profile. Graduates should be well-prepared to realise independent productions and to take active part in the development of national culture. Graduates of this specialisation will be trained to work creatively using the latest generation of digital and computer technology. They will provide a highly qualified staff of producers of multimedia artistic productions (image and sound). The syllabus for this specialisation includes the following subjects: calligraphy, solids and flats, lettering and typography, foundations of graphic design, history of art, history and styles of music, sound art, electro-acoustics, copyright law and related law, methodological and computer labs, image, computer sound, exercises in three-dimensional graphic.

Studies at the Intercollegiate Multimedia Artistic Creation Laboratory last five years, within the 5-year graduate courses at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw, according to the obligatory curriculum. Most classes are taught in one of the laboratories in Dziekanka student dormitory. Students of the two Academies can enrol in mid-October.

You're welcome!
