Ladies and Gentelmens!
There were and there still are people who devote their whole lives to act for the benefit of science, art and education. Thanks to their imagination they build permanent bridges between people. They build them in places where it would seem impossible. It is them who fight against political, religious and race prejudice and create conditions that facilitate contacts between various countries and cultures. It is thanks to their talents and skills
that the unreal becomes real.
One of such people is Professor Synn Ilhi: mathematician, philosopher, poet, pedagogue, Germanist, promoter of numerous unusual undertakings. What is important for us, he also created the unique project called Keimyung - Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music. Today our Alma Mater awards Professor Synn Ilhi with the title of an Honorary Doctor. It is the most important academic recognition awarded for particular achievements: notable and noticeable ones. This is one side of the coin. The visible side. But there is also the invisible side, placed rather in the sphere of feelings and it cannot be understood or explained. Just like love. We love someone not because of what he is, but because he is - because he exists, and also because he intrigues and moves us in some way. Contact with Prof. Synn Ilhi brings similar feelings. But they also confirm us in our belief that we meet someone Extraordinary. A Unique Personality.
That is why I feel particularly honored that I am the one to lead this ceremony. I am very glad that we include such an Extraordinary Man to the circle of the Honorary Doctors of our Academy.
