This book has been dedicated to Professor Mihály Ittzés. Professor Ittzés has been collaborating with the Polish Kodály Group for more than twenty years. He presented numerous lectures at the Polish-Hungarian Kodály Seminars. This book is the seventh volume within a series titled Zoltán Kodály's music education system. Source materials and studies. It is intended for music teachers, music education students and other persons interested in music education.
The book comprises nine chapters concerning various aspects of Kodály's ideas: The Kodály Movement in Poland by Mirosława Jankowska, Musical Education via Group Singing in Childhood by Andrea Jaworska, The Function of Play in the Musical Development of the Child by Barbara Kaminska, An Alternative Programme of Music Instruction for "Singing Classes" by Anna Waluga and Maria Czarnecka, The Relative Method and its Application in the Training of the Singer's Ear by Barbara Stencel, The Pedagogy of Singing, Singing in Pedagogy by Wojciech Jankowski, Christmas Carols or the Art of Greetings by Katarzyna Dadak-Kozicka, My Encounters with the Kodály Pedagogical System by Danuta Dobrowolska-Marucha, Musicality and the Free Will by Kacper Miklaszewski. The book also includes abstracts of the chapters in Hungarian, a biography of Mihály Ittzés, and a list of his publications.
