International Academic Conference: Chopin Works as a Source of Performance Inspiration

On February 24-28 1999 an International Scientific Conference commemorating the Chopin Anniversary was held at the AMFC in Warsaw. Many prominent chopinologists, theorists, educators, music researchers and performers from Poland and abroad attended the conference. They presented their ideas on the interpretation of Chopin's music at numerous lectures, seminars and discussion sessions. The conference yielded a great amount of material. The editorial committee chaired by Professor Mieczyslawa Demska-Trebacz selected those texts, photographs and music scores which were most representative for the presented theories and performance achievements. This selection is published in a book "Chopin's Output as a Source of Inspiration for Performers". The accompanying CD presents several illustrations of different interpretations of Chopin's music, comments recorded during the lectures and seminars and the opinions of outstanding musicians.
